Sharon, CT: The Sharon Center School seventh grade (Class of 2009) and the Sharon Historical Society will host a gala opening reception in the Hallway Gallery at the Sharon Historical Society to celebrate the seventh grade benefit art show and sale on Thursday evening, April 17th, from 6-8 pm. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
For the past two months, students in the seventh grade at Sharon Center School have been putting pen…and pencil…and charcoal…and paint to paper to create over 20 framed works of art for their exhibit at the SHS. Adult friends of the class – including parents, Sharon Center School teachers, after-school art teachers and more – have also donated art work including a landscape by noted painter Colleen McGuire, and photographs by Jenny Hansell and Bruce Morse.
The show will run through May 12. All student artwork will be available for $20 each, a bargain price for framed original art. All proceeds from the show will go towards augmenting the seventh grade class fund, used primarily to defray individual student costs for the class’s weeklong educational trip taken as the culmination of their middle school experience.
The Sharon Historical Society is open Tuesday through Friday, from 1-4 pm, and by appointment. For more information, call (860) 364-5688 or email to sharonhistoricalsociety@yahoo.com. The museum is located at 18 Main Street, in Sharon, Connecticut, just north of the clock tower on Main Street (Route 41.)
