On Saturday July 4th from 10am - 4pm, and Sunday
July 5th from 10am - 1pm, the Sharon Historical Society will
present The Great Attic Classic 2009, the truly splendid
tag sale and silent auction, under big tents on the grounds
of the Historical Society, 18 Main Street, Sharon, Connecticut.
This popular event is staged every three years
by Sharon's Historical Society and is a chance to acquire
treasures large and small during two very busy days. The Historical
Society reports that this year's donations have been as top
notch as ever. But they note that more donations are always
welcomed. Pick up can be arranged for larger items.
To add a touch of competition to the event,
a few select items will be highlighted in the Silent Auction
Tent. Beginning at Friday evening's preview party, the Silent
Auction will end at noon on Sunday. This year the Society's
silent auction items include two outstanding hand-crafted
antique doll houses, a hand colored aquatint botanical published
in London in 1804, an antique blue and white bed quilt and
much, much more. Don't miss an opportunity to see these one
of a kind items.
As usual the Attic Classic tents themselves
will be filled to the brim with antiques, new home décor,
lamps, jewelry, lighting fixtures, china, glassware, furniture,
rugs and linens and more. The Great Attic Classic sale
has been long regarded as the best tag sale of the summer.
This year will live up to all expectations, with donations
coming in fast and furiously. All are reasonably priced and
admission to the tents is free after 10 am. Early buying on
Saturday will be held starting at 9 am, the cost of admission
is $10.
An early buying Preview Party will be held
on Friday evening, July 3 from 6-8. Tickets are $35/person
and should be reserved in advance. The party features hors
d'oeurves catered by the Sharon Day Care Center and an open
bar. Please call the Historical Society to reserve your tickets
today!
The Historical Society would like to thank The
Salisbury Bank and Trust Company, Prindle Insurance Agency,
Grey House Publishing, Sharon Optical, and UpCountry Services
for sponsoring this popular community event.
